5 Unexpectedly Awesome Instagram Accounts
You know those people that go WAY hard at their jobs? Like way harder than anyone was expecting?
You know what I mean - like Phil Collins composing the Tarzan soundtrack. Or Taylor Swift releasing 2 new albums during the Covid lockdown. Or Tom Hanks making us all cry when Wilson floated away.
Well, the social media managers behind the following 5 instagram accounts should be added to that list.
As a social media manager myself, I give huge props to the people that run these accounts. They’ve taken something strange or boring and made them actually fun to follow.
Here are my favorite instagram accounts that are way better than anyone expected:
@tsa - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
You know what's hilarious? Airport security.
The TSA has an Instagram account, and it's like a sitcom with confiscated weed. They post pictures of the craziest things people try to bring on planes (like shivs hidden in sharpie markers).
Plus, they share some helpful tips for your next flight. They even hopped on board the Barbie meme trend. Give them a follow – your layovers just got way more entertaining.
2. @hotpockets - Hot Pockets
Ok, hear me out. Hot Pocket’s Instagram account is comedy gold. Seriously, whoever runs this account is simultaneously taking their job really seriously while treating it like a joke. Enjoy hilarious “fan art,” memes, giveaways, and more. And don’t pretend you don’t like them. Everyone likes a good Hot Pocket.
3. @utahtransportation - Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT)
I’m from Utah so I’m a bit biased. But if you're like me, you probably never thought you'd be following a transportation department on Instagram.
@utahtransportation is an exception - a hidden treasure – like that extra Hot Pocket you found buried in the freezer. They've got some pretty cool drone shots of Utah's highways, important construction updates, and the frequent (and surprisingly funny) reels.
4. nasa - NASA
Alright, I know NASA isn't exactly a surprising Instagram account, but it totally deserves a mention. Want to feel insignificant? Check out their photos of the cosmos. Need a laugh? They've got pretty impressive jokes.
And a collab with Post Malone? Say no more.
5. accidentallywesanderson - Accidentally Wes Anderson
You know how sometimes you're walking down the street and you think, "Wow, that building looks like it belongs in a Wes Anderson film?" No? Just me? Well, @accidentallywesanderson is here to show you that the world is full of quirky, symmetrical, pastel-colored places that'll make you feel like you've stepped into a movie. It's like a vacation for your eyeballs, and way cheaper than a ticket to the Grand Budapest Hotel.
