A Hot Marketer’s Guide to Surviving the Holiday Rush

Woof, hi fellow hot marketing girlies. How are you doing? We hope you’re surviving.

The holiday season is here - filled with joy, twinkling lights, cheerful music, delicious treats and…oh, just a whirlwind of marketing campaigns and endless to-do lists. As much as we love the festive cheer, it’s no secret that this time of year can be particularly hectic for the people behind all of the LAST CHANCE - BLACK FRIDAY texts & “Run, Run, Rudolph” captions on Instagram.

So in case you’re also brainstorming santa shopping puns around the clock, we’re sharing some of our favorite tips to help you stay sane, creative, and maybe even a little merry during the holiday marketing rush.

1. Plan Ahead and Set Realistic Goals

Start early and set clear, achievable objectives. Map out your campaigns well in advance, and remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day – and neither is a successful holiday marketing strategy! You can’t do it all, so don’t be afraid to delegate to your team and share those endorphins that come from checking “done” on your to-do list.

2. Leverage Automation Tools

Your best friends during the holidays are tools that can automate the mundane tasks. Schedule posts, emails, and ads in advance using platforms like Hootsuite or even Instagram. This way, you’ll have more time to focus on real-time engagement and strategy tweaks.

3. Maintain a Content Calendar

Organization is key during the holiday frenzy! And boy, let me tell you, there’s a reason Santa checks his list twice! A detailed content calendar will help you keep track of what needs to be posted when - ensuring you don’t miss out on key dates and trends. Pro tip: communicate to your clients well in advance of your content deadlines so you can rest from midnight, day-before changes.

4. Don’t Forget Self-Care

This is crucial. Take breaks, hydrate, and ensure you’re not always on work mode. The best marketing ideas often come when you’re relaxed and not staring at a screen! Except for pinterest – scrolling pinterest for inspo is always a good idea. It’s relaxing + inspirational.

5. CELEBRATE BIG.

Congratulations - you’ve made it. The New Year is just around the corner and you can finally breathe. Take a couple of days to do the things you love (may we recommend binge-watching all of the hallmark movies you missed?), door dash your favorite craving and wear your comfiest pants. Maybe hit the slopes or simply order all the cute things you meant to, but never did online. Re-fuel yourself so you can hit the ground running in 2024.

So while deadlines and analytics loom over your head, remember to hang onto the holiday spirit – it’s all about spreading joy and creating memorable experiences for your audience (and yourself!). Happy marketing, and happy holidays!

Ps. This post contains holiday photos we styled for our client @indyclover. Aren’t they freaking festive & cute???
